Transit Zombies are people who take public transit so much that they become unconscious of their actions, usually they take a specific route so often that the physically and mentally go on autopilot. The dangers of transit zombies is that when something out of the ordinary occurs they keep going on with what they are used to doing, this will look strange to the objective observer, but once in motion a transit zombie will tend to keep doing what its already doing.
So they can appear rude, brusque, generally unresponsive...among other signs.
Things you can do to combat Transit Zombie-ism

Have different / alternate routes you can take to & from home, work, school.

Try to sit in a different part of the bus, people tend to always sit in the same seats when available.

Periodically mix up your route.
